Governing Authorities
The Polish Academy of Sciences performs many functions.
It is an association of scientists and a network of scientific institutes. It educates and supports researchers.
Participates in public debate and popularizes knowledge. Represents our country in international organizations.
This complex identity is complemented by multi-level management. The General Assembly decides on the directions of operation and development of the Academy.
It is composed of female and national members of the Polish Academy of Sciences, who meet for sessions at least twice a year. In the breaks between the sessions of the Assembly, all strategic decisions are made by the Presidium.
This is a narrower group selected to maintain democratic standards of Academy management. In the periods between meetings of the Presidium, the current activities of the PAN are managed by the president. The Chancellor, on the other hand, manages the Chancellery of the Academy, i.e. the administrative support.

Najwy偶szym organem Akademii jest Zgromadzenie Og贸lne. W Zgromadzeniu Og贸lnym Akademii bior膮 udzia艂, z g艂osem stanowi膮cym, cz艂onkowie krajowi Akademii.
Je偶eli ustawa albo statut nie stanowi inaczej, uchwa艂y podejmowane s膮 zwyk艂膮 wi臋kszo艣ci膮 g艂os贸w w obecno艣ci co najmniej po艂owy cz艂onk贸w krajowych. Przy obliczaniu wymaganego kworum nie uwzgl臋dnia si臋 nieobecno艣ci cz艂onk贸w, kt贸rzy uko艅czyli 75 lat.
Zgromadzenie Og贸lne Akademii okre艣la kierunki dzia艂ania Akademii i sprawuje nadz贸r nad ca艂okszta艂tem jej dzia艂alno艣ci, podejmuj膮c w tym zakresie uchwa艂y wi膮偶膮ce inne organy Akademii.
Zgromadzenie Og贸lne Akademii mo偶e wypowiada膰 si臋 w sprawach istotnych dla Narodu i Pa艅stwa.
Zgromadzeniu Og贸lnemu Akademii przewodniczy Prezes Akademii.
Prezes Akademii zwo艂uje sesje Zgromadzenia Og贸lnego co najmniej dwa razy w roku.
Na wniosek jednej pi膮tej cz艂onk贸w krajowych Prezes Akademii zwo艂uje sesj臋 Zgromadzenia Og贸lnego, nie p贸藕niej jednak ni偶 30 dnia od otrzymania wniosku.
